FITNESS /LIFESTYLE PROJECT FOR: 2016/2017 -Warm Mulled Cider

My last update on this topic: THE HEALTHY AND HAPPY LIFESTYLE PROJECT was some time ago, and so it is about time I did a small update.The meaning behind this posting series is quite simple, and it is to tip you on some small or big happy things you can discover in your every day life. One post I did some time ago was a tip for a cinnamon tea you could make at home.

The recipe was easy, and drinkable in 20 min (maybe a bit long for some). The drink was still really good, and a bit spicy.

Today however I thought why not give you a tip on a hot drink you can make when you come home from a cold day outside in the snow or any kind of cold weather wherever you are. I personally love the simple drinks like a hot chocolate with some vanilla. However I recently found this recipe online, and think I might just try it this weekend.

Warm Mulled Cider:

Simmer apple cider with mulling spices, orange zest, and ginger to make a drink that smells as good as it tastes.

Ingredients:

1 orange

1/2 gallon apple cider (not juice)

2 tablespoons with honey

5 whole allspice berries

6 whole cloves

pinch of ground nutmeg

1 – 11/2- inch piece ginger, thinly sliced

8 cinnamon sticks

This is what you do:
  1. Using a vegetable peeler, peel the zest from the orange to create long strips
  2. In a medium pot, bring the cider, honey, allspice, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and orange zest to simmer. Do not boil. Heat uncovered for 30 minutes.
  3. Ladle into cups, and serve warm with the cinnamon sticks.
