This site and its topics is a five-year plan in the making. I started with nothing but an idea of a blog, and how it would be so cool to have my own without really knowing all the work that goes into writing a quality content site. You do not only have to come up with your own ideas you also have to write the post as well as take the right photo to accompany the written part. I have for a long time wanted to change by page into something I can be more proud of, and a site that better aline with my thoughts of where it will go/be in a few years. I have so many new ideas, and content waiting in the wings that just did not work on my other platform or under a name like “Over The Weekend”.However now you can probably from the new title guess a little easier what my direction will be. I hope you find this new way for my site as interesting as I do. I will primarily write about a an active lifestyle within skiing (that I love) and rock climbing. But there are some topics that will still be on the site like books, fitness , and my coffee guide to Oslo but now Gjøvik to name but a few. The reason I have kept these has to do with my personality, and interests .
I am always on the search for a new great read, and nice coffee to drink with it. So therefore getting rid of these categories was never in my plan, and seeing as you my reader seem to like them as well..It was an easy choice .
The site will change much more into a magazine format over time, and not so much a blog anymore. This will take time, and much hard work on my part which I am fully aware of. But this time all the work will be put down, and I will do my best to stay on top of everything.
The first style shift for the page was some months ago when I changed to Pipdig, and asked them to move my entire site with all its content from Blogger to WordPress, and in the process change layout completely. This was done because after long-term thinking about all the advantages with WordPress I simply had no choice anymore. I am so glad I did the jump because the WordPress platform is far easier to navigate then I first thought, and you have automatically more choices as to how content is displayed.
So what´s new?
I really believe that you will find the content direction much more interesting, and engaging over time. I will not write about the daily stuff, but try to create much more specialised content that you hopefully do not get a lot of other places.
I really hope you are as interested in seeing where this new project will take us in the future, and how many great Norwegian outdoor locations I will show you in the process.
Outdoor and lifestyle magazine is where you choose to come if you are interested in inspirational, and interesting content on topics like skiing, rock climbing (mostly outdoors), the outdoors, and an overall active lifestyle.
The reason for my re branding, and layout change is that I wanted my newest content to be super easy for you to find. That is why from now on my latest article will always be displayed in its entirety, and you will get a grid view underneath. I hope this makes it a lot less complicated for you to stay on top of things you want to read, and also find new content you might have missed. The widget on top “most popular posts” is there to help you discover more interesting content that you might like to read. This section also shows posts back to the very beginning, and can therefore be a nice way to maybe discover the site a little bit more. A history of a page/blog is something I find to be super interesting seeing as everything in life goes through changes even a blog/site like this, and along the way it creates a certain personality and presence!
My photos for the magazine will from now on only be shoot on a Sony A33 camera, but my Instagram will be shoot with an IPhone. This change will be done in the hopes that my photos will be of a higher quality for the site, and not grainy.
I will take more time into writing longer, and more substantial articles for you whether that means a product review ( I am as of now not sponsored by any business), or it means tips and tricks for new skies, or how to better use your climbing equipment. However this also means that I will probably not post something every day! I will see how much time the process ends up taking me.
As I have started featuring Norwegian companies I love in the sidebar their logo had to be shown from the time you start reading. There so many great up and coming Norwegian businesses within the rock/skiing/ outdoor “community” that I simply wanted a way to showcase them so that more people where able to discover them if they wanted to. They will all with a product or two (with the permission of the companies themselves) be featured in future articles.
I have on top created a “shop my photos” tab, and that is precisely what you can do.I have had this dream for a long time. If I am ever able to sell anything? Only time will see. However I thought it was worth a try before I maybe started doubting myself. In the shop you will primarily see images that have already been featured on the site, and some that just have not made the cut into an article but still are worth having a second look at. I will primarily sell photos of nature, and not so much of people. Some are photoshopped , and some are not! It all depends on the motive!
Hope you like my new site!
