Remember anyone starting to climb outdoors after a few seasons on a climbing wall indoors will feel that the grades feel different to those used indoors. As a general guideline indoor grades, which are based on a French sport grades tend to be two about two steps up from the UK outdoor grades . A climbing wall grade 5 indoor will most probably be a 4 outdoors.

Choosing a route can sometimes be a challenge, and i have therefor made a post outlining some of the things that can be worth taking into consideration when you try to make up your mind.
This will be an introduction to rock climbing. All the tips featured are taken from a book called Rock Climbing – Introduction to essential skills for leaders and seconds.
Heralded as a sport in England in the late 1880s after the (well publicised) solo first ascent of the Napes Needle by Walter Parry Haskett Smith, rock climbing attracted increasing numbers of participants. An early benchmark approaching modern levels of difficulty was the ascent, by O. G. Jones, of Kern Knotts Crack (VS) in 1897. Jones was attracted to the new sport by a photo of the Needle in a shop window in the early 1890s. By the end of the Victorian era as many as 60 enthusiasts at a time would gather at the Wastwater Hotel in the Lake District during vacation periods.
Here comes a few tips for girls who want to go rock climbing
